Our neighbourhood store on the corner of River and Balsam Streets has been serving Thunder Bay for more than 45 years. Established in 1961 by Danny’s parents, George and Dolores Thompson, we continue their commitment to provide the outstanding service, friendly people and fresh food guarantee that will keep you coming back year after year.
These traditions are at the heart of George’s Market. At George’s, fresh produce with exceptional service has always been our promise. We take pride in our full service fresh meat and deli counter, where the finest cuts of meat are available. We bake fresh bread, buns and pastries daily, and have delicious locally made desserts to tempt you.
George’s Market supports local producers. Locally made cheese, as well as cheese imported from around the world, is here for you. In season, we stock corn, peas, beans and so much more from Belluz Farm and DeBruins Farm. Delicious beefsteak, cluster and vine-ripened tomatoes are everyone’s favourites.
